Week 9 - Short but Productive

9th On-The-Job Training week March 31, 2025 - April 4, 2025

Although this week was cut short due to the holidays, I still managed to make the most out of the three days I was on duty. Week 9 gave me more hands-on experience with hardware, particularly in disk management and power supply replacements. I also helped out with some minor lab maintenance, which added a nice variety to the week.

Day 1: Disk Pullouts and Lab Maintenance

I started the week by pulling out disk drives from the computer units in Computer Laboratory 2201 to prepare them for cloning and updating. Throughout the day, I continued the SSD and hard drive cloning process to ensure the systems would be running updated configurations. I also lent a hand to the department technician in fixing computer tables in Lab 2102, proving that OJT isn’t always about just working on electronics—sometimes it's about maintaining the workspaces too!

Day 2: Power Supply Replacement and More Fixes

The cloning process continued on the second day. In addition to that, I replaced the power supply of a computer unit with a defective one—an essential hardware repair that deepened my understanding of internal system components. I also assisted the technician in fixing a computer unit in Lab 2201, reinforcing both my troubleshooting and teamwork skills.

Day 3: Drive Reinstallation and Configuration

To wrap up the short week, I focused on reinstalling the newly updated drives back into the computer units in Lab 2201. After installation, I configured each unit to ensure everything was ready for use. This day helped reinforce the importance of attention to detail when setting up systems after hardware changes.

Even though Week 9 was only three days long, it was packed with impactful technical tasks. From hardware replacements and disk drive management to workspace maintenance and system configurations, each task added to my growing IT experience. It reminded me that even in short weeks, there’s always something valuable to learn and contribute.
