Week 8 - Hardware Fixes and Drive Management

8th On-The-Job Training week March 24, 2025 - March 28, 2025

My eighth week of OJT was filled with productive and technical activities, focusing on computer unit repairs, power supply replacements, and continuing our large-scale drive updating process. I also gained more exposure to different types of hardware, like projectors and power supplies, and contributed to preparing more labs for use. Here's what my week looked like:

Day 1: Repairing and Replacing Hardware

The week started with hands-on hardware repair. I helped the CSIT department’s computer technician fix multiple computer units in the CSIT faculty office. I also continued cloning SSDs and hard drives as part of our ongoing update rollout. One notable task was replacing a defective power supply in a computer unit—an experience that enhanced my familiarity with internal PC hardware and troubleshooting.

Day 2: Lab Configuration and Projector Troubleshooting

I went back to configuring computer units in Computer Laboratory 2204, ensuring everything was properly set up for future use. Later that day, I assisted in repairing a projector from the CSIT faculty office, gaining experience in dealing with audiovisual equipment used in classrooms.

Day 3: Disk Management and Administrative Assistance

In Lab 2102, I began pulling out disk drives from the computer units to prepare them for cloning and updates. As always, I continued cloning drives throughout the day. I also lent a hand to faculty members by delivering important documents to their respective offices.

Day 4: Reinstallation of Updated Drives

After successfully cloning the SSDs and hard drives, I began reinstalling the updated drives back into their respective units in Lab 2102. I also pulled out a new set of drives from other units in the lab, prepping them for the next round of cloning.

Day 5: Drive Replacements Continued

To finish the week strong, I continued the reinstallation and pulling out of disk drives from Lab 2102. It was a full day of hands-on configuration and system prep, keeping our workflow moving forward efficiently.

Week 8 gave me a deeper dive into hardware fixes and disk management. From swapping out power supplies and fixing projectors to prepping entire labs through drive cloning and configuration, I felt more confident in my technical skillset. It’s rewarding to see computer labs slowly come together, knowing I’ve contributed to making them fully operational.
