Week 6 - System Updates and Hardware Maintenance
6th On-The-Job Training week March 10, 2025 - March 14, 2025
As I move further into my OJT, my tasks remain focused on hardware maintenance and system upgrades, ensuring that computer units in the laboratories are fully operational. This week, I also assisted in troubleshooting various devices, from printers to a DVD player, while continuing to provide support for faculty members. Here’s how my week went:
Day 1: Cloning Drives and Configuring Computer Units
I started the week by continuing the cloning of drives for updates, ensuring that all computer units receive the necessary configurations. Additionally, I worked on configuring computer units in Computer Laboratory 2204 to ensure they were ready for use.
Day 2: SSD Installation and Laptop Upgrades
On this day, I installed updated SSDs into computer units in Lab 2204. This task was crucial in enhancing system performance and reliability. I also assisted the CSIT department’s computer technician in upgrading a laptop and fixing a printer from another office, expanding my troubleshooting and hardware maintenance experience.
Day 3: Continued SSD Installations
My focus remained on installing updated SSDs into the computer units in Lab 2204, making sure that all machines were updated and ready for users.
Day 4: Paperwork Assistance and Device Repairs
Aside from technical tasks, I helped faculty members by assisting with paperwork that required signatures from signatories. Later in the day, I helped the CSIT department’s computer technician fix a printer from another office and worked on repairing a DVD player. This gave me experience handling different kinds of devices beyond just computer systems.
Day 5: Finalizing Updates and SSD Installations
To end the week, I continued cloning drives for updates and installed the remaining updated SSDs into the computer units in Lab 2204. This task required patience and attention to detail to ensure that all installations were done properly.
This week was all about ensuring that the computer units in Lab 2204 were updated and ready for use. Through installing SSDs, configuring systems, and troubleshooting various devices, I improved my technical skills and gained hands-on experience in IT maintenance. Additionally, helping with administrative tasks reminded me of the importance of balancing technical work with office support. With each passing week, I’m growing more confident in handling different IT-related tasks, and I look forward to learning even more in the coming weeks!
