Week 4 - Expanding My Skills in IT Maintenance and Networking

4th On-The-Job Training week February 24, 2025 - February 28, 2025

This week, my tasks involved a mix of software installation, hardware maintenance, network configuration, and troubleshooting. I also had the opportunity to assist in setting up computer units for different offices. As I progress through my OJT, I continue to gain valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of IT support.

Day 1: Software Installation, Maintenance, and Printer Repair

I started the week by maintaining and installing new software on computer units in Computer Laboratory 2105. I also performed maintenance on computer units in Lab 2203 to ensure that all systems were functioning optimally. Later, I assisted the CSIT department’s computer technician in fixing a printer. Additionally, I helped a faculty member by delivering important documents to the appropriate offices.

Day 2: Continuing Software Installation and Printer Repair

My tasks from the previous day carried over as I continued maintaining and installing new software on computer units in Lab 2105. I also helped fix another printer that was brought to the office, further reinforcing my skills in hardware troubleshooting.

Day 3: Network Configuration and Troubleshooting

On this day, I worked on router and access point network configuration, an essential skill in setting up and maintaining a reliable network connection. Additionally, I cloned drives for updating computer systems and troubleshooted a computer unit in Lab 2105, ensuring it was fully functional.

Day 4: Continued System Updates

My primary task for the day was cloning SSDs and hard drives for system updates. This repetitive but crucial task ensures that all computers are equipped with the latest configurations and software versions, optimizing performance and security.

Day 5: Troubleshooting, Computer Setup, and Networking

On the last day of the week, I continued cloning SSDs and hard drives. Additionally, I troubleshooted software issues on a computer unit from another office. Later, I assisted the CSIT department’s computer technician in delivering and setting up a computer unit requested by another office. I also engaged in networking tasks, including setting up a hub and network cables, expanding my experience in network infrastructure.

This week allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of IT maintenance, software installation, and network configuration. The tasks I performed highlighted the importance of keeping systems updated and ensuring that networks are properly configured for efficient operations. I look forward to learning even more in the coming weeks!
